Injection Molded PlasticsInjection molded plastic containers and closures are molded from FDA Grade High Density Polyethylene plastics, Linear Low Density Polyethylene plastics, and Copolymers plastics. Molten plastic is injected at high temperature and pressure into a mold which is the inverse of the products shape. The injection molded plastics process time varies depending on gram weight of molded part. The molded plastics gram weight is checked regularly. 

Molds designed by designers and engineers are made by tool and dye makers. Molds are precision machined from steel to form the features of the container or closure.

During the injection molded plastics process, clamp pressure holding mold cavity and core together, range from 100 tons to 500 tons, temperatures range up to and over 400 °F, during the injection phase of the molding cycle. The molded plastic part is rapidly cooled by water circulating throughout the mold.

After the injection cycle, the mold opens and the molded plastics part(s) fall onto a conveyer. Many molds have multiple cavities, during each cycle multiple parts can be made. The injection molded plastics molding process is faster and produces parts that are more dimensionally accurate with less paneling or imperfections than the blow molding process.
